DYK #22: Beware the furniture dealer..

Al Capone was an American gangster who led a crime syndicate. The Outfit, was dedicated to smuggling and bootlegging liquor, and other illegal activities such as prostitution, in Chicago from the early 1920s. His brutality was legendary even during his lifetime.

Capone became a highly visible public figure. He made donations to various charitable endeavors using the money he made from his activities, and was viewed by many to be a "modern-day Robin Hood".

Al Capone had business cards that listed him as a used furniture dealer. Another Capone oddity is that although he was nicknamed "Scarface," Capone was not the inspiration for the Al Pacino movie of the same name. There is another movie by the same name loosely based on his life though.
